Ocean Jasper is a trade name for a variety of Rhyolite found along the inter-tidal shores of northeast Madagascar, near the village of Marovato. Ocean Jasper is prized by collectors and enthusiasts for its vibrant and colorful orbicular patterns. This hand-cut and polished semi-precious cabochon is made from the prized material from Madagascar.
The stone is a one-of-a-kind medium height piece of art that looks like an abstract picture with white circular spots across a light forest green and creamy yellow sky and a swirled milky white ground. The stone is cut in a skewed Navette or Marquise with both a lower and upper girdle to facilitate easy stone setting. The specimen is polished to a high vitreous luster.
This cabochon is ideal for a pendant, ring, bracelet and/or statement piece setting.
Photographed under full spectrum LEDs.
