MOOKAITE JASPER

The Australian Jasper Mookaite , named after Mooka Station, which is where it was found. Mooka Station is located on the western side of the Kennedy Ranges, 180 kilometres east of Canarvon, Australia. The geological formation where the Mookaite is found is called the Windalia Radiolarite.

The Mookaite stones are found as large vibrantly colored nodules suspended within a soft white decomposed clay located below the creek bed. The extracted Mookaite contains varying degrees of silica with the best material having higher levels and being more chalcedonic. This higher grade Mookaite takes a very high polish.
