Chrysoprase is a gemstone variety of chalcedony if translucent. The apple-green color is due to the small amounts of nickel within the chalcedony.
The source material for this stone originates in Madagascar. This particular piece exhibits a white line and a couple of random spots, which are intense areas of subsurface druse crystals.
The stone is cut in a wider skewed Navette or Marquise with both an upper and lower girdle to facilitate setting the stone. The cabochon is polished to a high vitreous luster.
The cabochon is ideal for a pendant, ring and/or statement piece.
