Chevron amethyst, also known as dream amethyst, dog tooth amethyst or banded amethyst, is a combination of quartz crystals and amethyst crystals. Amethyst is actually a transparent purple variety of quartz. Other than color, the physical properties of quartz and amethyst are almost identical.

A hand cut and polished semi-precious cabochon made from Chevron Amethyst, a purple variety of quartz. The stone has fortified alternating layers of deep purple and white crystals in an irregular pattern of Chevrons. The stone is cut in a Skewed Marquise with both a lower and upper girdle to facilitate easy stone setting. The specimen is polished to a high glassy luster.

The cabochon is ideal as a pendant, broach and/or a statement piece setting.
